THE HIKES WILL BEGIN NEXT WEEK!!

I am a Low-Impact Hiker, not good with heights, but enjoy the beautiful surroundings
and exercise. Call the Recreation Dept.(387-4208x4) to sign up for Low-Impact Hikes on Wed. and High-Hikes on Th. Beth Vandette, a new staff member will lead them. The Low Impact Group is scheduled to go to Sims Creek Trail and Green Knob. Meet at the Alpen Haus at 9:00 A.m. Transportation will be provided. Wear hiking shoes (very important), and bring a hiking stick, two bottles of water, and lunch. You will meet a wonderful group of club members. I have included two pictures from past hiking years. Sometimes we go high, and get to see a beautiful view, and other times we stay on trails in the woods. Come and check this out.

Twilight Golf has Begun

Last week was too cold to play, but today was a beautiful afternoon, and quite a few players signed up, as you can see by the crowd in the picture. It is a Scramble Format and lots of fun. Players then have dinner at the BMC Restaurant afterward. Call John at the Pro Shop (387-2372)to find out more about it, and come join us. We'd love to meet you.

The two other pictures are of #10 and #14 from the Clubhouse Deck. Leaves have really come out. The course is beautiful, and it looks like summertime. We hope you plan to join us on Beech for the Memorial Day Weekend!

More Pictures of the BMC Practice Facility

Directions: Drive down the cartpath, as you were going to the Ladies Tee on #10. Just below the Men's White Tee, you will see the stone planter wall. This is the location of the opening to the cart path to the new facility. Turn left and follow the path, under the present Driving Range and around to the right on the hillside below Club House Rd.

John Carrin, our head Golf Pro, said that they will have netting over the path area, so people can hit a few warm up golf balls before play at the present location.

As you look at the actual practice facility picture, the far right will be a teaching area for lessons, the middle is a putting green, and the left will be the area to hit balls.

The final picture is of a furry friend that we saw way down on the present driving range.

Happy Mother's Day

The weather is beautiful. Cool with nice sunshine. The Mother's Day Brunch was delicious. Brian Barnes, our GM/COO and Ron Barrett, Clubhouse Mgr, were both there to greet returning members.

I took a picture of the house on #15, which is being rehabbed, and finally was able to get a picture of a Mountain Magnolia flower from my front deck, with the benefit of my 10x Optical Zoom Digital Camera.

Everyone had a wonderful time today, seeing old friends. Come join us soon.

Flowers are Blooming on Beech!

It was a cool, overcast morning, in the 60's, and I noticed that some Mountain Laurels and Rhododendron's on the gravel portion of Club House Rd were already in bloom. I could not get close enough to get a good picture of the beautiful white blossom of a Mountain Magnolia. Many are in bloom in the woods. The weather forcast on Mother's Day is 60/41. Hope many of you will be here to enjoy the Brunch at the Beech Mountain Clubhouse Restaurant.

More Golf Course Pictures

It is really amazing about the difference in the course between yesterday and today. The fairways and greens are more beautiful. It was warm enough to play in shorts at 10:30 A.M. Showers are expected tomorrow and Saturday.

One of the pictures was taken from the old driving range looking across the 10th and 14th Fairways. You can see the trees are leafing nicely. The second picture is of the new Practice Range as seen from the 10th Fairway, and the 3rd picture shows the beautiful new home on #17. Another pleasant surprise is the remodeling of the home on #15. I'll have a picture for you, the next time I am on the course.

I'm told that the door on the
