TENNIS STADIUM CHRISTMAS UPDATE

It's Xmas, and Santa (along with builder Bill Dacchille and architect David Morton)  brought us 96 seats to watch top flight tennis next summer!!
How's that for a nice Xmas present??
Now the stairs and trim are going on!

Winter at the Beech Mountain Club

December 14, 2010

It was a beautiful day at the golf course today.

Open areas like the putting green appear to have little snow, but the wind blew so hard we wound up with 4" in some places and 6' drifts in others.

10th tee - simply stunning

A view of the distant mountains to the east

The snow drifts were built up so high I could not get down the steps without the snow going above my knees

The icicles on the Clubhouse Dining Room almost reach the ground

3rd fairway from Grassy Gap Loop

Tennis court construction is on hold for now

Tennis Stadium Update

November 21, 2010
Photos courtesy of Carol Parent

The latest pictures of the new tennis stadium work.  Looks like things are moving right along.

Many thanks to Carol Parent for providing these updated pictures.

Won't this be a great way to enjoy all of the tennis events in 2011!

Note:  If anyone has any other BMC Club pictures you want included over the winter, please email them to me at debbiecanady@gmail.com and I'll be glad to get them in.  That saves the multiple emails to various people before I get them.  Kathy, Nancy and May will be contact points in the spring and summer but I am here all year so feel free to send me whatever you think is blog worthy.  :)

We are expecting some snow on Thanksgiving but it doesn't appear to be anything of significance at this point.  Hope you all have a very blessed Thanksgiving.

Late Post on New Snow

Pictures taken November 6th

Our first snowfall of the season was very welcome.  Winds were light and the snowfall soft and constant for a day and a half.  We wound up with about 4" overall and it was beautiful.

Looking over the putting green at the cart barn.

Country Club shot taken from below.

 Bird's eye view

A quiet, snowy and beautiful day.

The trees were coated at such a slow pace that some looked like feathers.  Our next snowfall is expected to begin Thanksgiving night but little accumulation, if any, has been predicted so far.  Stay tuned....

Tennis Stadium Update

November 10, 2010
Contributed by Walter Gassner, BMCTA

Finally, after all these weeks, we have resumed the construction of the tennis stadium.

During the past several weeks, we have designed, redesigned, and re-redesigned the trusses that are needed to hold up the stadium. They had to undergo rigorous engineering specifications, and finally they have been designed, manufactured, and delivered.

Then, the first snow of the season came.... BUT, this WILL GET DONE!!!

Attached are some of the pictures of the concrete foundations that were put in about 2 weeks ago, and the girders that were placed on them today, in preparation for the placing of the trusses. First picture shows girders and support beams installed, second pictures shows the trusses that have been delivered to support the planking on which the seats are installed, and third picture shows the seats, still boxed, but ready to be installed!

The fence has come down, and construction should go rapidly once the planking gets started.

Butterfly Garden Belles

September 14, 2010

The butterfly garden is taking shape more and more as time goes by. It is such a treat to be able to stop and walk through to see what this dedicated group is doing to transform a plain lot into a lovely walking area.

If you are getting ready to leave the mountain and have plants you can donate for this beautiful garden, call one of the members of the BMC Garden and Herb Society to see if they can transplant them in the garden. Wouldn't it be nice to stop by next season and see your plant living in such a nice place!

Thanks so much to the dedicated gardeners who have made this garden a showcase for all of us to enjoy.

It's just starting now but it will be so nice to see it grow from year to year.

Beautiful garden, thanks to beautiful gals like these who are working so hard at this project.

3 Chicks and a Rooster BMLN 9/23/2010

We have lots to crow about today, a great event thanks to Marilyn and Judy (they were such good eggs to organize it). Our red roosters added great color to the day and had all the chicks "clucking" for attention. The lunch served by the Fairway Cafe on the porch overlooking the sun drenched mountains was the perfect end to a lovely morning.
It was a good day to be out of the hen house.
