GARDEN AND HERB SOCIETY TEA -AUGUST-30

Our membership and guests enjoyed our Annual Tea, which was held at Carol Richardt's beautiful home. The group was led by Carol Klein this year with many interesting meetings and additional work being done on the Memorial Butterfly Garden next to the Tennis Courts. If you have any Perenial plants that you would like to donate, call Suzanne Powell @ 387-9250. Definately keep this group in your plans for next year. It is composed of ladies who are golfers, trip takers, tennis players, bridge players, etc, and is a wonderful way to meet other interesting Beech Mountain Club members.

GARDEN & HERB SOCIETY MEETING- AUG 16TH

G&HS had a very fun meeting, led by Carol McCarvil, who personally picked up all the shells on the beach that are on the table, and taught us how to decorate flower pots with all kinds of items. Everyone enjoyed creating as seen in the last picture. Our last meeting will be our Annual Tea, to be held at Carol Richardt's home at 11:00 on Monday, August 30th. If you would like to meet our group and find out more about it, please call Carol @ 387-4398. We always have a very nice get together and I'm sure you would also enjoy it.

GARDEN & HERB SOCIETY MEETING- JULY 19

We had lots of members show up on a very rainy morning. We were going to meet in the Butterfly Memorial Garden, near the Tennis Courts, which will be planted in the near future, but because of the weather, we met at the RAR. Candyce Scherer gave a very informative talk on Butterflies---how to identify them, and showed us some books on the subject, and information on how to provide the proper plants and food for them. Afterward, we had a plant exchange and enjoyed some delicious refreshments.
Our next program will be on August 2nd, and Suzanne Powell will discuss Herbs. If you want to know more about our organization, contact our Coordinator, Carol Klein @ 387-2969. You'll meet a very nice group of Beech Mtn Club ladies, who love to garden.

GARDEN & HERB SOCIETY MEETING-JUNE 21

We had a nice gathering of members at the Pavillion. The refreshments were delicious, and then we made beautiful garden markers. Next month our meeting will be held on Monday, July 19th. Check the News and Notes for location. One of our projects is to work on the Butterfly Memorial Garden, which is located just before the BMC tennis courts. Rory and his staff have been working hard with gravel paths lined with rocks, and there is a beautiful Memorial Chair in honor of Tuck Calhoun. One day soon, this garden will be filled with many blooming plants.
