The "Golf Ball" golf tournament and "Ball" dinner were held on Thursday, June 23,2012. Based on all reports,it is safe  to say that  everyone  had a  "Ball"!!
The golfing began  with a shotgun start at 9:00 A.M. There was  a full field of over 100 golfers . Everyone received a "Dance Card" with their instructions for the tournament. All Lady golfers received a "Golf Ball" marker.

The front nine was called "Cha Cha Cha".  1 best ball was used on the Par 3's, 2 Best Balls on the Par 4's and 3 Best Balls on the Par 5's. The back nine was called "Two to Tango" and  2 Best Balls were used on each hole. There were also  special holes for proximity events such as  "Snuggle up to the Pin SAMBA" and "WALTZ Away with the Prize " for closest to the line. On one hole each player"dancer" got to  "Dance with the Pro"  John Carrin. Anyone whose drive was closer than his received a prize.
The evening festivities began at 6:00 P.M.
People were given masks as they entered the "ballroom" . Denny Slawn and his orchestra played "Masquerade" as everyone had their first glass of champagne.
The music and dinner were fantastic. Prizes were awarded to the tournament winners  towards the end of the evening and to top it all off there were two dance contests!!

BMC MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENT- SEPT 4,5, AND 6TH

There are BMMGA, BMLGA, and BMNGA Championships, but this one is specifically for any BMC member with a verifiable handicap. The format is Match Play, which unlike stroke play, which is the total amount of strokes taken over a round of golf, match play scoring consists of individual holes, won, halved or lost. On each hole, the most that can be gained is one point. Golfers play as normal, counting the strokes taken on a given hole. The golfer with the lowest score on a given hole receives one point. If the golfers tie, then the hole is halved. Once a player is "up" more holes than there are holes remaining to play, the match is over.
These are the results, according to John Carrin, our BMC Golf Pro:
Men's Championship Flight:(7 players):Winner-MacAdams($45);Runner-up-Mike Poteat($25)
Men's 2nd Flight (7 players): Winner-Charlie Tate ($45);Runner-up-Urs Gsteiger($25)
Men's 3rd Flight (7 players): Winner- Ed Levine ($45);Runner-up- Jack Dickerson ($25)
Men's White Tee Flight (5 players); Winner-Don Payne $30);Runner-up-Ed Englander($20)
Ladies Championship Flight (6 players):Jeanie Courtney($35);Runner-up-Sondra Rice($25)
Ladies 2nd Flight (6 players); Winner-Louise Dale-($35):Runner-up Roz Kaplan ($25)
Congratulations to all of the winners. I have included pictures of Jeanie Courtney, winner of the Ladies Championship Flight, and Louise Dale, Winner of the Ladies Second flight.

THE COLONEL'S TOURNAMENT

We're talking Alan Brister, of course in the top left hand picture. He runs a golf group for men, and also enjoys holding tournaments where women can play. Anyone can sign up, and after a very interesting format, he also provides lunch for all participants at the Fairway Cafe. It was lots of fun, as you can tell by the smiles of everyone having lunch together. 1st place team was: Ted Matney, Bob Gasko, Darcy Gsteiger, and Nancy Raymond. 2nd place team was: Bill Holder, Marty Cohen, Barbara Knowles, and Sondra Rice. 3rd Place team was: Ron Tulino, Frank Neill, Ray LaForge, and Larry Shefter. Thank you, so much, Colonel!
