Land of Oz Trip

This was a Nature Ventures trip. The Rec Dept has one on Tuesday, every two weeks. Marge Bailey is involved. The trip was called, "Land of Oz". The cost was $5 each. Cindy Keller, I believe owns the place. We had a nice tour of the buildings, and followed "The Yellow Brick Rd", with participants of all ages playing parts scripted by Cindy on printed pages. A bunch of familes came. It was a very special event.

Recreation Department Activities

June 2nd Nature Venture trip.
Cathy Trivette of Beech Mountain took us on a guided tour of the Backside of Beech Mountain. We stopped at a friends house to see her beautiful flower gardens full of rose bushes, a cherry tree, and grape vines. Following our tour Kathy's fellow neighbors and community members made a delicious lunch for us at the Beech Mountain Community Center

KIM'S TIDBITS

At Lake Coffee, If you have not seen the duck eggs along the bank, about 3 feet out in the water, their story is interesting. The white duck lays one egg each night and a guy I met picks them all up one day a week. He  incubates them and then releases them as adults. The White duck does not care for these eggs. If she wants to raise them, she lays them in a nest in the weeds. I took an iPhone image of one in the water today.
