BEECH MOUNTAIN MARATHON BRIDGE PARTY- AUG 30

Beech Mountain Marathon Bridge Group is run by Sandy McDonald.  There are 14 couples involved, divided into two groups.  Each couple invites 3 other couples, as assigned, to play individually at their home, and are invited to the homes of three other couples from their group.  Chicago scoring is used, and scores are transmitted by email or phone to Sandy.  Refreshments served are very simple, just soft drinks and snacks. There are two parties a year at the Alpen Haus, where each couple brings a dish, and bridge is played.  Prizes are awarded at the end for the number of points earned during the summer. Thank you for all your hard work, Sandy, and we also want to thank Peter for carrying lots of things to the second floor of the Alpen Haus for our parties.

BEECH MOUNTAIN MARATHON BRIDGE -JULY 19

Sandy McDonald is the leader of Beech Mountain Marathon Bridge.  There are 14 couples divided into two groups and each couple plays bridge with 6 other couples, entertaining 3 separately at their home and playing at 3 other couples homes.  The couples make their own arrangements and only soft drinks and snacks are served.  Scores are then phoned or emailed to Sandy, and at the end of the year, there are awards for the highest score totals.  There are also two parties for all to attend at the Alpen Haus, to eat and play Bridge.  The first was just held, and the second one will be on August 30, with food, Bridge, and prizes.  We appreciate all of Sandy's work for this group.

FINAL MARATHON BRIDGE PARTY - SEPT 2ND

The Marathon Bridge Group is run by Sandy McDonald, in the black flowered shirt, with assistance from her husband. Peter. One of the reasons Beech Mountain is such a wonderful place to live, is all the work that Sandy does to arrange information so two groups of 9 couples can invite four other couples to their home, one at a time, and be invited to four other couples home, each time playing Chicago Bridge and E-Mailing their scores to Sandy. It is all very informal with only snacks and soft drinks served. Did I mention the two parties for the two groups at the Alpen Haus also held during the year, with heavy hoursdourves and desserts brought by the members, and Bridge playing, of course. The last party held last night, also includes prizes of 1st and 2nd place for men and women, and a special prize for the low point ladies and gentlemen, which is mostly caused by just having bad luck hands with few points, and Sandy receiving presents from the appreciative members.
The winners were:
Ladies: First Place: Peg Bradley ; Second Place: Sherry Crenshaw
Men: First Place: Herb Neuman; Second Place: Ed Bradley
Most bad luck and low point hands: Lloyd and Sarah Bailey.

BEECH MOUNTAIN MARATHON BRIDGE-JULY 22

Sandy McDonald, the lady in the pink shirt, with the help of her husband, Pete, heads this bridge group. The goals are to HAVE FUN and get to know your neighbors and fellow bridge players a little better.
There are two groups, each has 9 couples, who invite 4 couples to their home individually and play at four other couples homes. Sandy makes out the schedule and players set their own dates. Chicago scoring is used and all scores are E-Mailed to Sandy, who keeps the totals and averages the scores. Only drinks and snacks are served. 8 hands are played with players partner and 4 each with the other players. There are two get togethers at the Alpen Haus with something to eat, and bridge playing, of course.
Thank you, Sandy, for all of your organizational skills and hard work. All of us Bridge players appreciate it!
