Do you have friends like this, around your home?

We just had a very special Lily, along with Daylilies, and Phlox, eaten last night. This is one of three creatures that came through a vacant lot next to our home. I told them how disappointed I was with them. We had been using Irish Spring Soap chips around our plants. (someone has already told me that Irish Spring works very well, til tasty buds appear) Do any of our readers have other suggestions? Help, Help!

BMLGA has Playday and Luncheon

Joan Wichman, President, is leading the meeting. We have many events in July. Two days are Ringer Tournaments. On July 24th we will invite the BMLN (9 holers) to play with us, and on July 31 we will hold our Member-Guest Tournament. To join the BMLGA, you must be a BMC Member and have a yearly beginning Handicap Index of 37.1 and below. Dues are $50.00. It's a wonderful way to have fun, increase your golf skills and knowledge, and meet other club members. Call Joan for details at 387-3656.

The Latest on the Golf Practice Facility

I spoke with Rory today. He thinks it will be completed the end of July. They are putting sand under the putting green, the sprinklers need to be put in, and sod installed. I think after it is completed, you will see a lot of families honing their golfing skills. It will be open to all BMC members and guests.

Everyone player in our foursome got out and gave each of them a big hug. They are very special people, who have been members for years. Larry has been important with his knowledge of the history of the club. Both missed last summer, because Winky was not feeling well.......But they're here for this summer. ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN
An ongoing home remodeling at 119 Saint Andrews Rd has caused a traffic harzard since late winter. The contractor and his workers are parking their trucks on the roadway blocking one lane of travel. As this location is just prior to a curve in the roadway, traffic driving around the obstruction is in danger from vehicles proceeding in the opposite direction. In the comments are conversations with Town Hall you might find amusing. Please e-mail, write or call Chief Hefner (Chief@townofbeechmountain.com) if you are so inclined.

Garden and Herb Club Meeting
The first meeting of the Garden and Herb Club was held yesterday. Ann Martin, who is a Master Gardener and our leader had a very interesting program, using herbs in cooking. Our menu was:
Rosemary Lemonade
Rosemary Walnuts
Vegetable Cheese Strada
Herbed Tomatoes
Olive Oil Basil Cornmeal Cake with Strawberry Sauce.
On Monday, June 18th, we will take a trip to the Christmas Tree Hill Nursery, where an expert will address the topic of planting and maintaining perennials. For reservations, call the Recreation Dept at 387-4208 x4.

Beautiful Flowers And Excellent Scores!

The beautiful flowers were planted just this week, by the first Tee, which is just a few steps from the Fairway Cafe. The excellent scores were also posted this week from the BMMGA on Wednesday, and the BMLN on Thursday. If you're a golfer or a wannabe, call John Carrin, our PGA Professional. (387-2372) He has excellent teachers on the staff, and can tell you the criteria for joining our golfing groups.
