Have your Rhododendrons been eaten?
Because some folks chose to feed the deer last summer, the deer did not have to forage for themselves. Then when winter arrived the deer were desperate. That caused the very hungry deer to eat Rhododendrons this winter.
These pictures are from just one house, Kim & Kathy Barley’s home. Their rhododendrons had never even been nibbled before. Were your plants eaten this winter?
We have been told by people who have spoken to the local Wildlife Officers that human feeding of deer in the summertime is a disaster to the herd. These are wild animals not nice pets. Feeding bears is also dangerous. Some have broken into homes to find food.
The lesson: DO NOT FEED WILD ANIMALS IN THE SUMMER! IT IS A TERRIBLE THING TO DO TO THE ANIMALS AND IS SELFISH!

Dear Mrs Barley,
A group of us happened to be browsing through your BMC Blog and saw where you very telling folks that we ate your rhododendrons. You also said they should not feed us in the summer. Well first of all, what proof do you have that it was us who ate your puny bushes? I have it on good authority that they were actually eaten by some of your desperate neighbors who had been ripped off by Bernie Madoff and could no longer afford to eat out (they had forgotten how to cook a long time ago). As for the kind folks who give us their scraps in the summer, we only take it because it bring so much joy to their grandkids and visitors from the cities. If you continue this campaign against us, we will be forced to take "other" measures. We know where you live.
Sincerely,
Bambi
P.S. I have talked to your big dog and he fully supports our position
