If you have never hiked, you should try it. There are beautiful trails with a variety of difficulty. Kim Barley, Cocoa, his brown Lab, Bobby Nemerson, Marge Pooser, and myself hiked the Rough Ridge Trail at milepost 302.8 on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is an easy to moderate rated trail and the rewards are the views at the top! Wear hiking shoes (mine were $20 at Walmart quite a few years ago), a walking stick (a long tree branch will do), water and lunch. The leaves should be perfect this next week.
