Suzanne Powell was kind enough to send me the following words and all of the pictures here by Don Mulaney. Enjoy.
I visited the Butterfly Garden, which some of the local residents created here on Beech Mountain. They are doing a beautiful job with their plantings, ornaments, pathways and benches. At this elevation, not too much grows and what does, gets eaten by deer, rabbits, chipmunks, etc.
It's late in the season, so some of the plants and butterflies show some wear.
I believe all these butterflies are Eastern Tiger Swallowtails, if not, let me know. <http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/ species/Papilio-glaucus
