February 22, 2008 Update of BMC Golf Club

The exterior of the pro shop has a much better entrance look already.

The right side of the pro shop has opened up with more room where the golf club storage used to be.

The interior of the pro shop appears to be much airier and lighter.

Ongoing work on the pro shop, course and cart barn is moving right along. I made sure I took the time to go and get pictures of some of the work in progress as I know that those who cannot be here are anxious to see some results. I apologize for not updating more often but will endeavor to be more diligent in the future. :)

1-9-08 Course Update

January 9, 2008
It seems someone was a bit over anxious on the new #10 tee box. The mark shown is a large, unrepaired divot on the newly sodded tee. Several places around the course have similar signs of play from people that are not repairing their divots. Many of the places are on newly sodded ground that probably hasn't even rooted yet. It is a shame that the staff's great efforts are being hindered from such activity.

The work on the new cart barn area is taking shape more each week now. We have been very lucky to have such nice weather that the work can continue at this pace.

What a beautiful day we had on the 9th. The air was cool but the sun was shining, it was dry and the skies were blue and clear. A perfect opportunity to catch up on pictures around the mountain.

These shots of #10 show the clearing being done to spruce up and expand the tee box.

Snow At Last!!!

January 3, 2008
The recreation center takes on a surreal look following the 5" - 8" of fresh snowfall we received on the 1st and 2nd. What a way to start the new year!

I witnessed no polar plunges and would have been very surprised to see anyone hardy enough to try.

Location work for the cart barn is still in progress.

The views overlooking the 10th tee and 14th green were nothing short of spectacular.
Looking over the practice facility toward Virginia from the Clubhouse deck.
Now we are hooked. We are looking forward to the next snowfall. Hope to see you here!

BMC Holiday Party & Wine Tasting

Saturday, December 22nd

The annual holiday party for BMC members was held at the RAR this past Thursday night, December 20th. There were approximately 40 members in attendance for the wine tasting, with Erick's Cheese & Wine supplying the wines for sampling and purchasing.

The Club provided a ham and Lyndsey organized the pot lucks to nicely accompany the ham. A job well done.

Larry Tyner graciously provided me with photos taken of the festivities as I left my camera at home...a first for me!

Everyone had a great time. It was so nice to see that some of our "summer regulars" were here for this event, if only for a short time.

Now let's hope we start getting some snow, since today is the first day of winter!

Between yesterday and today I have taken some pictures of the work going on Holes 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18. Brian was busy yesterday making plans for the remodeling of the golf pro shop, many workers were working on trimming trees, planning the new cart barn and tee construction and Rory is everywhere making sure the course will be better than ever when it opens next spring. Part of the tee construction is levelling tee boxes that have settled over the years. #14, for example, had sagged in the front to a 9 degree grade and is now level. New tee box construction will offer many new options for those playing the course.

The course is really looking good and, although I myself am not a golfer, those that are that I have spoken with are duly impressed and provided me with the technical information needed to update you in this article. Judge for yourself. November 29, 2007
