THE BARNHORSTS ARE BACK!!!!!!

Today, I was playing in a foursome in a BMLGA Tournament, when who should appear in their golf cart, heading towards the Pro Shop, but Larry and Winky!! Everyone player in our foursome got out and gave each of them a big hug. They are very special people, who have been members for years. Larry has been important with his knowledge of the history of the club. Both missed last summer, because Winky was not feeling well.......But they're here for this summer. The Garden Club Had a Field Trip to the Christmas Tree Hill Nursery

The owners, the Van's, personally discussed and answered questions about their plants. They were very helpful. All work and no play is no fun, so afterward, the whole group had lunch at the Best Cellar.

Please join us on July 2nd.

ACCIDENTS WAITING TO HAPPEN

An ongoing home remodeling at 119 Saint Andrews Rd has caused a traffic harzard since late winter. The contractor and his workers are parking their trucks on the roadway blocking one lane of travel. As this location is just prior to a curve in the roadway, traffic driving around the obstruction is in danger from vehicles proceeding in the opposite direction. In the comments are conversations with Town Hall you might find amusing. Please e-mail, write or call Chief Hefner (Chief@townofbeechmountain.com) if you are so inclined.

Low Impact Hikers enjoyed Roan Mountain

Every Wednesday, we visit a beautiful new area. We were especially excited to visit Roan Mountain, just before the Rhododendron Festival, which will be held on Sat and Sun, June 23-24. You just need hiking boots and a walking stick. Call the BMC Recreation Dept for details: 387-4208x4.

Wednesday Lo-Hikers are off!

We had a wonderful hike on Sims Creek Trail to Green Knob Trail, which is a 2.5 mile loop trail. It was lots of fun, and if you call Recreation 387-4208x4, you can join the hike next week on Roan Mountain, which is my personal favorite with long range views.

I had to go early, so I could get back to play golf. Here are some pictures of some othe other early birds, enjoying Chef Dan MacDonald's omlets and goodies. Herbs and baked goods were for sale, and there was all kind of information about activities that you would love to participate in.
