The Beauty of Beech Mountain Sunsets

June 2, 2010 Thanks to Beech Mountain Club member, Nancy Brunzos, for submitting this stunning
photo of a special Beech Mountain sunset. The photo was taken off of Nancy and Jim's deck

IF YOU LOVE BIRDS

Make a note on your calendar to save Thursday, June 17th at 6:30 P.M. to enjoy a program by Curtis Smalling at the Buckeye Lake Recreation Center. It is free, and he will take you outside to actually view birds. Curtis is a Mountain Region Biologist with the N.C. Audubon Society. Kim Barley and I went to his program at the Valle Crucis Park this morning. This man knows more about birds, can identify them by flight or song, and carries a Bird Book, so he can show you a close up picture. Bring your cameras and Binoculars and bird questions.

BMC GROUNDS AND GREENS MEETING

Members of the Committee are: Chair, Larry Tyner with Craig Hunter, Bob Josselyn, Suzanne Powell and Linda Sims. Reports were given on many subjects, since Rory is responsible for all green areas of the club. Brian Barnes showed very interesting pictures of the construction on Hole 18. The amount of earth moved was truly amazing. Rory and team are to be commended. It takes a lot of work to keep our course looking beautiful. If you are a golfer, come to the meeting and learn about our course.

BMLGA PLAYDAY-JUNE 1ST

I couldn't believe the number of members who showed up on a Ray's Two Golfball Day. It had started to sprinkle before we began, and I personally put on and took off my rain jacket the most times ever. There were no strikes of lightening, so we played the whole round. The game was "Individual Points Net", with 1 point for a Double Bogey, 2 points for a Bogey, 3 points for a Par, 4 points for a Birdie, and 5 points for an Eagle. I have also included a picture of flowering bushes by Carol Matney's home on Hole 7. They were just beautiful.
You can tell we're a friendly group. We welcome all BMC members with handicaps of 37.1 and below. Call our President, Becky Welsh @ 387-2376 for information.

BMLGA PLAYDAY- MAY 18TH

This was the second tournament of the year and quite a few ladies showed up, even though it rained some before play and sprinkled on and off during play. The game was Low Gross/Low Net (flighted). It was fun to see our 18 hole players back again.
If you are interested in joining our group, you must be a Beech Mountain Club member who has a yearly beginning Handicap Index of 37.1 and below. Call our President, Becky Welsh, for more information at 387-2376. It's a wonderful way to meet other BMC members.
