The Marathon Bridge Group is run by Sandy McDonald, in the black flowered shirt, with assistance from her husband. Peter. One of the reasons Beech Mountain is such a wonderful place to live, is all the work that Sandy does to arrange information so two groups of 9 couples can invite four other couples to their home, one at a time, and be invited to four other couples home, each time playing Chicago Bridge and E-Mailing their scores to Sandy. It is all very informal with only snacks and soft drinks served. Did I mention the two parties for the two groups at the Alpen Haus also held during the year, with heavy hoursdourves and desserts brought by the members, and Bridge playing, of course. The last party held last night, also includes prizes of 1st and 2nd place for men and women, and a special prize for the low point ladies and gentlemen, which is mostly caused by just having bad luck hands with few points, and Sandy receiving presents from the appreciative members.
The winners were:
Ladies: First Place: Peg Bradley ; Second Place: Sherry Crenshaw
Men: First Place: Herb Neuman; Second Place: Ed Bradley
Most bad luck and low point hands: Lloyd and Sarah Bailey.
