WALK FOR WINE - AUGUST 22

The information in the BMC Bulletin said the BMC and the Buckeye Recreation Center were sponsoring a walk, hike, along Beech Mountains' Eastern Ridge, with some of the most gorgeous views in the High Country. (the mountain views were as beautiful as those off Roan Mtn, The Blue Ridge Parkway, or Blowing Rock, and much closer.)  This would be perfect, not only for yourselves, but guests would love it, and it would be a special memory for them of their visit to the mountains.  I want to warn you, it took us 1 1/2 hours to walk/hike it, and I believe it was 5 miles!  So you might want to drive it instead.  Call the Banner Elk Winnery, so they will have delicious wine for you to taste. The directions are: Leaving Beech, take a left on Elderberry Ridge Rd.  Take the first left fork after the Pinnacle Inn.  It will be a gravel road through woods, which then becomes paved with beautiful views.  The Banner Elk Winery is on the left, not far from 194. Thanks to our Recreation Director, Morgan Herdklotz for helping with the arrangements.  Enjoy the pictures.  They were taken on a rainy day, and the other hikers were very fast, so they were taken very quickly, but I wanted you to see the beautiful scenery.
