LOW IMPACT HIKERS ON SIMS CREEK TRAIL TO GREEN KNOB TRAIL

It was another beautiful day. This hike starts at Sim's Creek Pond on the Blue Ridge and winds up hills and dale, through forests, across fields, under the Blue Ridge, and ends up a few yards away from the parking lot. We had lunch at a perfect park nearby and stopped by The General Store at Grandfather Mountain on 105, which has the biggest one dip ice cream cones in the world!

Next week we are going to canoe the New River. It's a 5 mile canoe trip which will take 3 hours. Call the Rec Office for details@ 387-4208. The cost for this special event will be $33.

BMLGA MEMBER-MEMBER RINGER TOURNAMENT

This is a very enjoyable tournament. Two members play each hole to get the best low net and low gross score. Then, next week, we will try to beat today's score. and we will find out who has won. from all the players in the association. The last picture is of our beautiful view from our Pro Shop.

IT'S BUSY AT THE NEW GOLF PRACTICE FACILITY

The BMC Golf Practice Facility is located on St. Andrews, below the Clubhouse, and next to the Fire Station. You can arrive by car, or a more fun route, is to drive a golf cart down the well marked path, which is protected by netting. There is a private practice lesson area, where our BMC Pro's give lessons, a practice sand trap, and a putting green.....and plenty of free balls for members. Is this a great club or what!!!! BEECH MTN ART SHOW TO BE HELD ON SAT, JULY 19TH

The Beech Mtn Art Guild 5th Annual Show is to be held on Saturday, July 19th from 9:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. at the RAR. This is a club sponsored event and all participants are club members. Everyone is encouraged to come see and support the excellent work of your Beech Mountain neighbors. Just follow the signs to the RAR.

LOW IMPACT HIKERS AT MOSES CONE

This is a very interesting hike. Meadows, woods, burial place of Moses Cone, hills, long range views, a tower to climb, and a distance of over 5 miles, plus a wonderful ending to look at all the goodies at the Moses Cone Center. It is rated easy to moderate. Give it a try sometime. Oh, and I forgot the beautiful horses that use the same trail. If you want to be included on the next hike, give Rec a call at 387-4208. Get a pair of hiking shoes, pack your lunch, water, walking stick, and meet the BMC bus at the Alpen Hause just before 9:00A.M. on Wednesday. You can't beat this much enjoyment for $8.00.

GARDEN AND HERB SOCIETY MEETING

We had a nice group of members and guests in attendance for the plant exchange and light lunch Fun Morning. Each person was to bring two plants and tell us why they were their favorite plants and how to take care of them. A light lunch was served and herb recipes were available. Next time you go to the RAR, check out the Herb Garden at the entrance. We thank Rory Ellington for his help on this.

On July 21st, we will be meeting at the Alpen Haus at 10:00 to discuss our plans for a new Butterfly Garden. Call Recreation at 387-4208 and plan to join us. It's fun to meet all of the different Beech Mtn Club Members.
