BMLN MEMBER GUEST

The Beech Mountain Lady Niners celebrated their Annual Member/Guest. "In Purse-Suit of Happiness" today. Members and Guests created specially decorated purses for the event.

Each two person team could purchase two shapiros, two sandies, and two alibis. A shapiro allowed a player a choice of the result of her new or old shot. A sandy allowed a player that hit the ball in a trap to toss it out, and remain at the same score as when she went in. An alibi gave players a chance to redo the shot, but that shot replaced the first one. The Tournament was a "step aside" Scramble, where the player of the shot selected, as the best to play, was not allowed to hit the next shot. There was also a closest to the line, and a closest to the pin tournament, and all was followed by a delicious lunch at the Clubhouse dining room, followed by awarding of prizes..beautiful purses. It was a fun day for all. We thank May Dahl for taking these pictures.

BMLGA PLAYDAY

We had a very good turnout for our "Individual Low Net in Flights" Tournament. Our group always enjoys seeing each other, before play, but concentrates on their game, during play. Next Monday and Tuesday will be our Championship Tournament, with a luncheon to follow, to celebrate the winning members. Something new this year, is a special one day tournament for those 70 and up, in age, with handicaps adding to 100 or above. To play in our tournament, you must be a member of the BMC and BMLGA, and have a certain amount of scores, played this year on the BMC Golf Course. Call our President, Joan Wichman @ 387-3656 for more information.

WATER AEROBICS

These pictures of Water Aerobics were taken from the Pavilion. Lori Hart is the leader, and she sure puts her students through their paces. It looks like everyone is having a good time, in the BMC beautiful new pool.

GARDEN AND HERB SOCIETY MEETING

We met in the cool pavilion, and under the leadership of Suzanne Powell, worked on several projects. Suzanne had all of the supplies for the projects on different tables. We decorated plain flower pots, turning them into special objects. There was also a concrete material to make plant markers, cut out with cookie cutters, which could be hung on copper tubing. Other ideas were using the seed packages as markers by putting wrapping tape around them for protection, and finally, make your own special marker by cutting a slice off a stick, writing the name of the plant, and protecting it with a protective finish. Call Suzanne Powell at 387-9250, for details on these projects, and also for information about our last meeting of the season, which will be a Tea at Carol Richardt's home, on Monday, August 18th.

We thank Walter Gassner for all of his excellent Tennis pictures. He must have spent the entire weekend at the Tennis Courts. His final report is that he and Stan Berman won the Senior Men's "A" Division.
