HERE ARE A FEW LAST PICTURES TAKEN ON SATURDAY. THE GOLF COURSE CLOSED ON SUNDAY, AND I IMAGINE THE COLORS WERE EVEN MORE BEAUTIFUL FOR THE GOLF CART TOUR ON MONDAY!
WE LEFT BEECH AROUND 7:00 A.M. ON SUNDAY. THE COLORS WERE GREATLY ENHANCED BY THE SUNRISE. HERE IS AN INTERESTING FACT. WHEN WE LEFT BEECH, IT WAS 61* AT OUR HOME. WHEN WE ARRIVED IN BANNER ELK, I NOTICED SOMETHING WHITE ON THE ROOFS, AND THE TEMPERATURE WAS 39*, AND WHEN WE GOT TO THE 184/105 INTERSECTION, IT WAS 37* I HOPE EVERYONE DRESSED WARMLY FOR THE WOOLY WORM FESTIVAL!
FINAL LAST THOUGHT, AND INTERESTING FACT TO TELL GUESTS. (TAKE THEM TO THE 18TH TEE ACROSS FROM MARGE BAILEY'S HOME..CORNER OF ST. ANDREWS AND BRIARCLIFT) IN MY LAST POSTING, THERE IS A PICTURE OF #18 FAIRWAY WITH A HOUSE HIGH ON THE LEFT HAND HILL. THIS IS HEDY JONES'S HOME, AND IS ACTUALLY LOCATED ON THE #1 FAIRWAY.
I HOPE YOU HAVE ENJOYED MY POSTINGS THIS YEAR. DEBBIE CANADY AND ANN ISLES ARE SET TO REPORT THE WINTER NEWS, AND THEN THE REST OF THE TEAM WILL BE BACK IN THE SPRING. I THINK YOU'LL HAVE TO AGREE THAT BEECH IS A WONDERFUL PLACE, AND THAT IS WHY EVERYONE LOVES IT!

The Buckeye Recreation Center will be holding a communtiy playground celebration to unveil the design for a new playground at Buckeye Lake Recreation Area. At 7pm, after meeting with the local Elementary Schools in the morning, a Leathers & Associates playground designer will unveil the drawing. Event begins at 7pm. Food and drinks provided.
Event is on Thursday October 25th. Don't miss it!
Great going Nancy. Your contributions through out the season have helped us enjoy Beech Moutain more. Your pictures are beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
As most of you know, unfortunately the golf cart outing last Monday was cancelled due to weather. We had 5 days of much needed rain that also brought in some cooler temperatures and heavy fog. The gorgeous fall colors that we had are now mostly faded to yellows and browns but it was really nice while it lasted. We can now settle in for winter and see if the Wooly Worm's prediction of a mild winter plays out with some cold and snowy weather at the beginning and end of the season. It remains a question if the ski slopes will be able to blow snow this year. So far the state mandated water restrictions will prevent them from doing so.
I am VERY happy to report that the rumor that Ski Beech may not be able to blow snow was very much exaggerated! The state never mandated water restrictions, as reported in the local paper. The Town of Beech Mountain has put us under Stage II water restrictions to protect our water resources but those restrictions do not extend to Ski Beech as it has it's own water source and will be able to blow snow as long as weather conditions permit. Whew!!! We are all relieved to hear that and that the Town is doing a good job at monitoring unnecessary water useage. Hope to see some of you on the slopes this year. If you avoid Beech in the winter you really should check it out as it is like a fairy land. I can't wait to get some pictures to share with you in the hopes of getting you tempted to come back, if only for just a short time.
