THE BMLGA GOLF BALL GOLF TOURNAMENT

The "Golf Ball" tournament and "Ball" dinner was held on Thursday, July 29th. Based on the buzz on the mountain, everyone who attended had a "Ball"!!
Players started out with a shotgun start at 2:00. There was a full field of over 100 golfers. Everyone received a "Dance Card" with their instructions for the tournament. The front nine was called "Cha Cha Cha" and teams used 1 best ball on the Par 3's, 2 Best Balls on the Par 4's and 3 Best Balls on the par 5's. The back nine was called "Two to Tango" and teams used 2 Best Balls on each hole. Players also had special holes for proximity events such as "Snuggle up to the Pin SAMBA" AND "WALTZ Away with the Prize" for closest to the line. On one hole each "player-dancer" got to "Dance with the Pro" with our head Pro, John Carrin. Anyone whose drive was closer than his received a prize. When people made the turn from one nine to the other, Dan Patry, was serving wine in a Tuxedo t-shirt.
Eventually, the siren sounded and the rain came down with 5-6 holes to play-but it worked out wonderfully because all players and guests went in for cocktails and dinner together and got to start partying early.
Lana and Dan were at the door handing out Tuxedo t-shirts for the men and feather boas and matching tiaras for the women. After all-it was a black tie affair! There was a red carpet at the entrance to the dining room. Denny Slawn played "Puttin on the Ritz" and "One Singular Sensation" as the diners entered.
All players and dinner guests received a big plastic golf ball keychain with a rain poncho in it. (we should have provided those at the beginning!!!) Centerpieces consisted of large glass vases filled with sand, painted silver and golf golf balls and candies. At the end, awards were presented for the golf and dance contest winners. Thanks go to Lyndsey Fox and Brian Barnes for all of their help with the planning, Roger Cote, our fantastic chef and his staff, for a fabulous dinner, John Carrin and his staff for help with the tournament, Denny Slawn for helping with our dance contests and providing great music, the dining room staff for the great service, and all of the players who came and had fun. We also want to thank the BMMGA, and the BMLGA, the Niners and the Board of the BMC for their support. We had a "Ball".
Marlene Reetz and Karen Levine
