About three of us, Kim Barley, Marge Pooser, and myself, who are really looking forward to a possible BMC hiking program to be restarted next year, took ourselves on a hike. We started at Beacon Heights. Drive to 105, turn right, and go left, as to Grandfather Mtn. Continue to the Blue Ridge and turn right. Very quickly, you will see a parking lot for Beacon Heights, on the left. It is a short easy trail up to a beautiful view spot. Afterwards, we drove north on the Blue Ridge to the Linn Cove Viaduct Visitor Center on the right. This is staffed by workers who can advise you on hikes (as is the Moses Cone Center 295-3782). We walked north in the parking lot and started a trail that goes under the Viaduct. This is a little harder and has large rocks, but is interesting.
