A Visitor at 3:00 am

Guess who came for breakfast at 3:00 am. I was awaken by this loud noise. This huge black bear had turned over our trash bin. He couldn't get in the top because it was locked, so he turned it over. I tried to scare him away but he just ignored me.
So keep on the look out, you may be next.

Sounds like the same bear visited us same night but earlier (about 10:30). We have both a bottom and locked lids on ours so it just threw it down into the yard. J.D. went to run it off and it reared up on its back legs so he backed off. Paul made enough noise to scare it off but a smaller bear was back the next afternoon about 1:30.

We live on Upper Grouse Ridge and we have been visited by Mama Bear and two of her cubs. Our son-in-law tried to strap the cans in the rack...no luck. Our contractor, Rick Miller and his crew made a locking lid for ours. We'll see.
I guess they are gearing up for hibernation.
